It’s the little things that us girls miss the most – chocolate and for me coffee.
Found a lovely place called Baguette and Chocolat Cafe in Sapa where we played a game of Uno. A bit more expensive than we are used to but a nice treat after our trekking journey. The cafe latte cost 49,000 ($2.50) and the chocolate tarts cost 31,000 each ($1.50 each). Oh it was so nice. And lucky for Dacey she was over her gastro to enjoy it.
And just when we were one happy family, it all turned upside down. I hadn’t even finished the coffee! Yes, Steve and I had our first barney in the exclusive little French cafe in Sapa. It ended up with me walking off in tears leaving the family with Steve. What was it over? The chocolate? The coffee? The UNO game? Or everything has to be his way? Or my way? I really don’t know…a combination of traveling with kids stresses that erupted (unfortunately) in a lovely little cafe we all didn’t get to enjoy in the end.
The kids were all upset with tears. Dacey thought we were breaking up! Obviously we don’t fight enough. But all resolved and ready for the overnight train back to Hanoi for the next leg of the journey.
PS is it a sign to not drink coffee or eat chocolate anymore while on this adventure???
