Last night we decided to brave the weather and just do it anyway – had to China Town on the local train. I am in awe at the ease of getting round on the local trains and monorail service in KL. I don’t know why you’d ever try your luck with a cab with all the traffic jams we’ve seen!
The rain was heavy but we purchased 2 umbrellas and Billie and Dacey had a rain cover each. Yet again they found delight in playing out in the thunderstorm amongst local on-lookers while we waited for a little rain relief. The local Malaysians just stand under cover and wait for the rains to pass. They took 45 minutes to pass – but we decided to make another run for it as it was getting on.
We headed on the monorail to Maharajalela. By the time we reached China Town the rain had stopped and we were in for some shopping and Chinese dishes for dinner. 2 Angry Bird t-shirts for Billie & Dacey 10 Ringitt ($3), coloured belts 15 Ringitt ($5), Charlie and Ashley purchased iPod covers 10 Ringitt each ($3)…the girls loved it even though it was quite cramped. The stall owners were more than happy to bring the prices down as it was a quiet night due to the thunderstorm. Our luck!
We were all dry by the time we found dinner. Lovely won tons and pork noodles. The owners of this shop were Chinese so we all had a great conversation in Mandarin and they thought Steve a very lucky man to have 4 pretty daughters!
Back to the hotel on the monorail, picked up ice-creams – Magnums (70 Malaysian cents) and Drumsticks (40 Malaysian cents)! The day was great – the kids have really started getting into this travel thing…phew!
