well we are here in downtown Kuala Lumpur (KL) and it’s a hot an balmy day – sunshine, that awesome Asian smell from the streets, lots of cars, buses and motorbikes. People are staring at the girls with their white skin and shorts – many women are in full robe and headdress. Steve has escaped for a couple of hours on his own to check out the monorail and some sightseeing sites for all of us tomorrow.
The Ringitt is the currency here in Malaysia – A$1 = 3 Ringitt.
The flight was interesting – delayed 40 minutes at Tullamarine Airport – Dacey our youngest starting losing the plot around then too! The flight took off at 10.15am and we landed at KL at 6.30pm (4.30pm KL time). We are only 2 hours behind Australia. At the 2 hour mark I think Dacey asked me a million times ‘are we nearly there?’
It’s a totally different feeling – the thought of having to FIND food for your family. There’s a little India just around the corner from our hotel but we decided on some street food – corn on the cob and dried fish sticks that the kids loved followed by sitting outside a local restaurant chicken and rice dishes with less spice to start us off. Didn’t get to sleep until 11.30pm Australian time so we were all looking forward to sleep.
So for the remainder of today, it’s R&R with a swim in the pool and tonight we’re walking to a night market that starts at 8pm. Need another good sleep 🙂
I hope Steve comes back from the monorail visit, he lives on the edge that man
